I will no doubt regret wading into discourse, but I really don't get the whole people being mad about kink at pride thing. If you don't like it, look away. No one is forcing you to look.

No one is saying you have to like kink, or participate in any kinks, or wear kink gear in public. But whether you like it or not, kink is intimately intertwined with queer history and is a part of our culture. To remove kink from pride is to sanitize pride and erase that.

And that's before getting into how this helps the broader right wing moral panic about trans people (and queer people more broadly by extension). It feels like it's not a coincidence how there's simultaneously an attack on queer people as evil perverts who need to be excluded from public life and also a call from inside the house that those of us who engage in kink are evil perverts who need to be excluded from public life.

I'd also be remiss to not mention how this particularly targets trans women such as myself. It's been a transphobic attack strategy since the 1960s (at least) to claim that trans women existing is a kink ("autogynephilia"). When you oppose kink at pride, keep in mind that much of the world considers my very existence to be a kink, and how that correlates to the "groomer" panic.
